True Confidence And The Development Of Wisdom

3:01 pm in Pyschology That Helps by seph

If we really believe in ourselves, who we are, what our purpose is in this world and what we can offer those around us, then barely any quantity of criticism or praise that can knock us off our center.

It’s only when a woman or man builds himself on the compliments or criticisms of others that their personality begins to take a dive.

To prosper in this world, you really have to have thick skin. For absolutely no reason at all the wolves will come out after you and try and tear you and your reputation to shreds. Similarly, people around you’ll compliment you with hollow praise and try to bring your ego up. If we slide into allowing both of these tactics of the world to create us, we will get caught up in a whole world of suffering.

The solution?

We need to trust in ourselves. While this is proving to be one of the roughest things to do it’s also one of the most beneficial lessons you can ever learn in life. No matter what, when the difficulties and praise comes, you still can maintain who you are. The enticements of life will make attempts to make you change who you are into what the world would like you to be.

Avoid this at all costs. Don’t change for those reasons. Instead, change for yourself and who you know you might be in future times. Continue to grow and continue to build upon your life day in and day out because that is what feels right to you.

Then, when you finally reach the end of the line, you’ll always be able to say that you stayed true to yourself regardless of everything else. To me, that sounds a bit like a pretty happy life.

So start believing in yourself. You never know what you are capapble of until you really go for it.

Forget Progress, Tap Into Deepening

3:01 pm in Pyschology That Helps by seph

When we let go of what we believe we need to be, we permit ourselves the room to grow into who we truly are.

In our modern world, we have a inclination as humans to believe that we always need to be something more. We have got to be prettier, funnier, richer and everything else in between. But all of these things that we believe that we have to be stop us from actually expressing who we are deep inside. We consistently measure ourselves against others and create fake masks for ourselves so other people will like us more. Thing is, after a while, these masks always fall off and people end up seeing us for our true selves no matter what.

It’s a lot easier, and way more fun in the end, to be completely who you are without any apologies.

This isn’t to assert that you shouldn’t take time to improve your life. But if you’re going to go down the journey of personal development and deepening, you have to truly focus on doing it for yourself. In truth, that really is the only way that lasting and sustainable change occurs. When you start developing for other people or because someone just told you to do it, you don’t essentially end up believing in what you’re doing. Unfortunately, development becomes something that you finally cross off a list a lifetime journey.

Be incredibly thankful for what you have at the moment and who you are and if you happen to be looking to take an excursion that might change you for the better, then develop for yourself. Develop as you know that it’s the right thing to do and that it will create a better future for yourself.

In the end, if we stay true to our own paths and believe in ourselves, we are truly capable of anything.

In The End, How Bad Do You Want It?

8:01 pm in Pyschology That Helps by seph

It looks like as the days go by I find myself finding more and more ways to improve at the things I have dreamed and imagined.

There are times during the day where I hear the following speech “How Bad Do You Want It?” by Eric Thomas in my phone and it brings a new energy into me. I suspect that the media we actually listen to and digest has a bigger effect on us than we know. You have got to be careful about what you bring into your life – because negativism can control your consciousness and take you places you don't want to go. I had to stop listening to some artists because of the things they sang about. Those things are not intended to be in my life – they’re everything I’m working against – and yet hearing them constantly can persuade you of trying something your really don’t want to.

How tough do you need to be to make it kid? Oh, I I know you have to be really tough…I want it so bad.

For a long time I could not put the rubber to the road. My wanting for my dreams was swept over by my fear of them failing. It is like a little kid playing with a new frightening toy. They’re so curious but they can not quite yet grab it because it’s so unfamiliar to them. This trail I have taken has yielded me many of these defining moments and brought fear head on into my life. I have become frightened of more things in my life, and yet simultaneously I’ve found some way to turn that fear into true possibility and bring light to the situation.

We will always be scared of things. The difference though between those who continue to move forward and people who are controlled by fear lies in their capability to stay curious about the world and its vibrations. This, here, has been one of my greatest learning lessons during the past 5 years of my life – and my opinion is that it is going to carry me forward into the future with open eyes and ears.

When you can see another lifestyle, a more positive way, a much happier way way…don’t ignore that. Understand what it is about that way of living that intrigues you and if you truly are prepared, give it a shot. Literally the very worst thing that might occur is that you're going to go back to your old way of life. Really ask how much you are willing to sacrifice and then move toward it. On the way you’ll find that this vision will demand everything and more from you, and if you have it in you, you will truly be happy to give up a lot for it.

How much do you need it? What can you give up for it? Because you need to have it – now go out and make it.

The Greatest Adventure You Will Ever Undertake

8:01 pm in Pyschology That Helps by seph

What if you might have a dream that wasn't under control? What if you could begin a voyage that would never end? What would that look like? How big could you dream?

Winston Churchill once famously claimed, “To improve is to change; to be perfect is to change often.”

Imagine going on the greatest journey of your life that was deep rooted in the undeniable fact that you were going to modify every day. You would discover exciting new things about yourself constantly, consistently bring new people into your life and dive into the caves of your heart you have never entered before. This journey would define every day you lived and made sure that you were always growing and deepening. This great adventure is possible, but it’s right around the corner after you confront your deepest fear. Maybe that deep fear is of being alone, not being significant or meaning enough, or not making an effect on the planet. Perhaps that deep fear is only something you truly know inside and have been scared to tell anyone else. But when you confront that fear and dedicate the rest of your life to a mission, it subsides and the chances of life open up in front of you.

Phenomenal things start to develop for you.

Life begins to shape and mould beautifully.

And dreams, well, those dreams you have always had turn into tangible life.

Many might think this idea is hogwash, but I’ve seen it happen with my very own eyes in my personal life and to the various lives of others I have coached professionally. When you face your fears and opt to go on a trip, you become the hero of your own story. You give yourself the chance to be continually suprised by life and live in just such a way that you’re completely uncontrolled by your great fears.

So what will it be today? Fear…or adventure?

Oh That Wonderful Thing Called Karma

12:31 am in Pyschology That Helps by seph

Never underestimate even the tiniest of actions. They are tiny drops of water, or maybe, tiny sparks of flame that can either build your life or set the whole thing spectacularly ablaze. I’ve really been there. I’ve really been there. 5 years ago, way back, my whole life was set on fire in the greatest way and it was all because of a karma build of negative actions over time. Ignoring the tiny things, attacking inward and outward, letting agony seethe inside of me and run my life. Oh yes I recall that night well, the night where the flames colored the sky. I burnt down. I burnt to ashes.

Every single day, we are presented with scenarios in which we can add to our karma or deduct from it.

It’s never really the large life events that identify us. Yes, naturally, they have got a major role to play, however it truly boils down to the small things, the nitty gritty details that many people ignore because they believe they are trivial. The more times I dive into life the more I start to understand that everything is moving, constantly changing, made of great energy…and your actions in this moment have the ability to send ripples all though space that you can't even possibly understand the strength of.

For an extended period of time, there developed this gap between me and people due to an implicit distrust in myself – not them. This opening was manufactured through fear, through personal hysteria, and through a total non-understanding of what I was meant to do and be way down inside. So I tended to avoid circumstances and people, or on the flip side, purposefully spend most of my time attending to others so I could ignore concentrating on myself.

You know that karma that I am talking about? Well, it doesn’t work so well when you are coming from a place of fear.

There’s great beauty in this life, but you can certainly miss it if you are spending too much time thinking in times to come. You can miss the amazing smiles folk give you and how astonishingly superb they are. You can miss how amazingly relaxed it is to sit out on your porch closing your eyes and just listening to all the sounds around you. These are considered to be the small details by many, but to me, these are the drivers of my life…these moments are my inspiration.

Everything around us is living and respiring, and to think for an instant that just because the ground you are standing on is solid basically makes it dead, you my friend are completely wrong. It’s all breathing. It’s all living…and it all matters.

Each action has a result. Every action has a counter-reaction to it. These are the laws of life that we live by and these are giant forces at play. I believe what we don’t really quite yet understand is how much our actions truly do effect others, the people surrounding us, and the rest of the planet and beyond. We don’t quite see how different we make the world each day by encouraging someone or lending a helping hand to an individual in need. We do not see the ripple consequences of our smile on someones life, perspective, and perception of the planet.

All of these little actions that you take every day are a part of karma.

So as time is moving along, I tap into my actions more and more and more and can feel the landscape changing as I consciously make my choices. This change in my mind-set, which came through my training mentors stretching of my mind, has truly allowed me to let go of what injures me and to breath life and love into each and every single moment that I have.

Always come back to your breath. Come back. Come back. Come back. If your consciousness takes a turn and starts to wander, come back. If you start to hurt, come back. Over the course of time you certainly will get better at being in this moment instead of revisiting old ones or attempting to go to a place that you can not actually exist in. Always be coming back. “Come back to me” sometimes you will hear your heart subtly whisper.

Our lives can be put on auto-pilot or you can drive this puppy by hand and really get a great feel for the result of the complexities of every single action you take. There’s beauty in that. Do not be discouraged by the understanding that everything you do matters. This may be something that frees you rather than being the thing that locks you up.

Let that karma build. Keep adding those drops of water into the vessel and in time you absolutely will have filled it.

P.S. Don’t worry if you accidentally lit your haystack aflame. The opportunity to be able to to reconstruct your entire city just how you really want it to be is probably one of the coolest experiences you will ever get to have.

Encouragement: The Dose Of Support Our World Really Needs

2:47 am in Pyschology That Helps by seph

It will only take you no more than two seconds to jump online and find spewing hate. The news, the posts we see, the comments we read. It’s all there. The Net has become a satisfactory turf for people that wish to hide behind a keyboard and write whatever they want about somebody. They can tear you apart, spread filth, and in many cases take things to a totally new degree. A degree that only promotes hate.

Hate breeds more hate.

If you have ever felt it deep inside, you know precisely what I’m talking about. When you harbour hate in your heart, you start hating other stuff too. While the internet is one out of very many methods folks can deliver hate with, it does act as a pretty clear demonstration showing how things are going in our world today. We have developed a system in which hate has the supreme protection. Being able to hide behind a user-name almost guarantees that the comments themselves won't see the forces of responsibility for its actions.

In light of this just about overpowering raging stream of hate, we need to press on.

Why?

Because we should promote what we love …rather than bashing what we dislike.

I'm really not delusional about the world. I am not that funny guy on the news who is known in his neighborhood for being Mr. Contented literally 24/7. That type of unbalanced one-way lifestyle is unhealthy for you. I have my awful days. I have days where I find myself in a conflict between love and hate, acceptance and shutting off, and these are days when I go to fight. These are days when I’m reminded of what I really believe in. Regardless of how hard it can be.

The dose the world wants in a constant drip, is support.

Many need to be encouraged for what they are doing, for failing and trying again, for giving a great effort and moving forward. It isn't about removing hate from the world, it’s about balancing it out with acts of love. The world, just as ourselves ourselves, can get out of balance and thrown off once in a while. People will start to see the very worst of everything because honestly, that’s only what we are shown. We are consistently the subject of the bad stuff. Switch on the television. Vehicle crashes, 10 dead at college shooting, riots, unrest in states all around the globe, giant coverups, violations of privacy, oil spills and nuclear meltdowns. With all this, no wonder we've got a gloomy view of what is occurring.

I think that a steady drip of love and inducement can change lives. It modified mine, so why can’t it help change others?

The ripple effect you can have on the world is way beyond your understanding. Hell, I I really don’t even know. But I have faith that it's happening. You can turn someones day around in a moment.

Inspire those around you. You will not agree with exactly how they are doing it, but don’t step on them for it. Others need to learn their way. Frequently we have the most honest intentions when making an attempt to help others, but in the final analysis, everybody has their own path to stroll. Walk with them, don't attempt to take the rug out from under them.

Encouragement matters.

The Art Of Facing Your Most Brutal Nightmare

2:47 am in Pyschology That Helps by seph

We each have these vital moments that we reach in our lives. Fortunately, for some, it happens earlier than later. For others…it takes years on years to reach that place. But we all reach that place. We all come to the point where we know, inside the depths of our hearts, that things must change. This desire for change is like nothing you’ve experienced before. There’s a different type of energy to it. There is a different feeling to it altogether.

You have to do the most scary thing you will ever do – face your greatest nightmare…yourself.

My moment came in late 2011 and it was not by choice. I recollect standing in that apartment, hearing words that I wouldn’t forget, and literally watching myself from above crumble. I manipulated everything about myself in that minute. I compromised. I did everything and anything I could. In the final analysis, I’ll always remember that feeling of turning to ashes. It wasn’t the moment of losing myself that did it, no, that was just the match. It was the complete mounting up of dry leaves and hay from years and years of neglect…and that small match was everything in took to spark something that would redefine me from that moment on.

That was only the beginning of everything, 7 days later, it reached its lowest point. Definitely rock-bottom. I made a request to the heavens in that wretched black dark room, it wasn’t granted, and I woke up late the day after looking at a crumbled landscape…with the understanding that I could take the time to reconstruct my complete world the way I wanted it.

But I would have to face myself.

More importantly, I would need to burn everything down that I ever supported myself with. I would learn the way to support myself for once, to not blame everything on others, to be accountable for my whole entire life, and to eventually let everything that was locked up and caged in me out. It had to all come out.

You see, when you build walls to keep things out, you also build walls to keep the superb things in you from ever reaching anybody. Love was walled in…hurt was walled out. Pain was kept away from me…joy stayed covered under the dust. I ran from fear…so my certainty and grounding evaded my life like the plague. I had to tear everything down. I had to tear my ego down. I had to tear down my projections. I had to rip apart everything and start over completely.

I did that. I started writing. I started being truthful about what was going on with me. I built everything back, stone by stone on a different foundation. My backbone and my heart would be the dense iron place from which I would create.

What I realized on the way was this – those places you are scared to go, that’s where your nightmare lives. It crawls around in that space. It’s this thick dark leaking sort of pain that may frighten you to death. It frightens you because it makes you think that if you go there you will get caught in it and drown. The truth of the matter is, that’s where your strength is. There’s unthinkable amounts of strength in going there. Just as there is strength in great and deep faith and light, there’s equal amounts of strength in going to the place that ravishes your heart with fear…and yet when you go through those places you develop this sort of belief in yourself that’s beyond confidence. It’s the sort of feeling that you know that everything around you could be destroyed, and you most definitely could build it all back no matter the situation.

Power.

Actual power.

“Take from me everything world, and I am going to come back and build it back better…and regardless of how you challenge me…I will absolutely continue to shine. “

Face your worst nightmare. Face your fears. Do not ever be frightened to let everything go for the chance to build it back better. Need love in your life? You are going to have to let go of everything on the opposite end that has been impedeing you. You are going to have to dive deep …down into the depths of your soul, lantern in hand, without the conquering blade. No armor. No weapon. No attempt to rise above all of it.

You need to go in naked and vulnerable.

You can come out. You may cry, suffer, and hurt…but you’ll come out. I’d never tell you to go anywhere that you could not come out of. I promise you, this is the one place you should go for everything to release. To build something new, to begin to live the grandest journey you might ever live…you have to go here. The shadows. The depths. The darkness.

I can tell you…this place, is where life begins.

Basking In Uncertainty

2:47 am in Pyschology That Helps by seph

There’s truly no such thing as certainty. It’s all truly uncertain.

In truth, uncertainty is absolutely beautiful however. When you live in a world brim-full of uncertainty, you give yourself the chance to live in full possibility and be really happy. Those two realities come together. When you start to separate yourself from uncertainty by proscribing what your future is going to seem like, that’s when you can really begin to get into a dash of difficulty. As much fun as that is to do, you become deeply out of touch with true reality of things and distance yourself from the people that are present now. There’s little worse than living in some place that you can not actually go to, and consequently, losing out on all that is going down at the moment.

That is my story.

Living in the future and neglecting the present.

Not that this way of doing things was a distressing thing all of the time, though it was out of alignment with the deep underlying sense of needing connection with others. I knew that I needed that connection, so I had to begin making some changes. I think the balance of where dreams and goals lie with an individual who has great ambitions is that they honestly must truly appreciate what they have now, be the person that they envision in the future now, and learn that the future is only going to be a representation of deep point of what is happening in their life right this moment.

My problem was that I looked at the future as a place where it might all turn out and everything would be fine. Wrong. You have to be O.K with what is happening today. When you can really live in the present moment and let the uncertainty of the future handle itself, happiness creeps in.

Learn to tap into this moment and appreciate it for what it is. That is all we can do right?

Uncertainty is the name of the game.

The Ordinary Hero Our World Needs

2:47 am in Pyschology That Helps by seph

A lion doesn’t concern itself with the opinion of sheep. Game Of Thrones, George R.R. Martin

We live in a pretty rough world.

Each time someone rises in this world there are 100 people trying to bring him or her down. They come out in packs with their piercing sharp teeth looking for techniques to destroy anything they can sink into… and frequently, they are pretty successful in doing it. It’s horrid what happens to people in this day and age who are endeavoring to do something in this world. It doesn’t matter if it’s positive even, the wolves will always find a way. I suspect this is the way that it has always been? Maybe it’ll always be this way.

But we need a new type of hero.

We need a lion who doesn’t concern itself with the viewpoints of those sheep who’ve never tried and failed in the arena. That’s the kind of hero we need. Not someone that was born great, but a man or woman who built themselves from the ashes in the depths and who will consistently take a stand for what they truly believe in and what they really adore in this life.

Wouldn’t that give the people something to root for? I believe as a society we are obsessive about perfect figures – if that be a body or a character. We idealize this concept of perfection and yet there truly isn’t any such thing. What we really need is someone who admits deep imperfection and celebrates it. And, in spite of that deep sense of being flawed, strives to grow every day and bring light into the planet.

We really need someone who will rise up above all the foolishness and take a stand for something greater than simply cash, sex, drugs, and so on. We need an ordinary man or woman – ready to be extraordinary in faith, love, and compassion.

Evan Sanders is the author of The Words Of Encouragement, a website dedicated to bringing the best quotes, motivational content on the web, and blogs all to one place. Interested in what else George R.R. Martin has to say about life? You can really learn a lot by going through these Game Of Thrones Quotes. When You Let Go Of What You Think You Should Become

2:47 am in Pyschology That Helps by seph

When you let go of what you think you should be, what the world is trying to tell you to be, and listen to who you are deep down inside – true magic happens. Everything is making an attempt to drag you towards the middle where mediocrity lives. You should be this way, dress this way, talk this way, like this music, do these things – the list grows for evermore.

The more that you express your feelings, the more you travel away from normal you get, the more you start to feel the gravity of that pull making an attempt to bring you back in. The rest of the planet, as much as they revere those who innovate and change things, does not want you to become an outlier. But that’s where most creative peoples passions live – on the fringes. Here's where genius lives. This is where vision and dreams live. These are the most unique places in life.

If decide that you are going to take a bit of a chance on those, you better be ready to feel the pressure from the giant outside forces of normality. I didn’t understand that at the start of chasing my dreams. I was under the impression that this force trying to bring me back in was the honest thing to do. But in numerous cases I found out that the voice whispering deep inside me was the right thing to do because that is where my purpose and zeal lives. If I ignored that I'd be forever living in deep regret.

Follow what makes you jump out of bed in the morning. Follow what makes your heart light up. Those positive things will never send you in the wrong direction. They'd send you into really challenging situations, but that’s what comes with the territory. You need to be happy to seek that resistance and understand that once it shows up, you are in the right spot.

Be content to be different. Make the sacrifices it takes to see your dreams. You never can tell when you’ll be taken from this place, so you may as well give yourself the best chance feasible to go out with a spark and begin following your dreams.
